In mid-October, eleven year old Shane's Rib Shack opened its 70^th restaurant.  The unit opened at the Shoppes at Brookhaven on Whiskey Rd. in Aiken, South Carolina. The menu features Southern-style menu items include slow-smoked baby back ribs, barbecue pork, chicken tenders and a variety of sides. The quick casual chain of barbeque restaurants operates franchised restaurants in Georgia, Florida, Arizona, New York, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, Virginia, Maryland and Kentucky. Founder and President Shane Thompson launched the concept in McDonough, a rural community south of Atlanta in 2002. In 2004, the chain introduced it franchise program. Shane’s Rib Shack continues to grow with a unit scheduled to open on Palace Dr. in Hammond, Louisiana shortly.  Shane’s Rib Shack continues to source individual and multi-unit franchisees focusing largely on the Eastern and Southeastern markets. The chain was acquired by Edmonds Capital LLC in early 2009 and is now operates as part of Petrus Brands Inc., a subsidiary of Edmonds Capital.
