Atlanta-based Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint is continuing an aggressive Florida expansion and will soon enter the Orlando market. Existing Tallahassee franchisee Michael Holmes has signed an agreement to build three units in Orlando in the next four years. Holmes, along with his Orlando operating partners Nick Holmes and Tyler Lackey, will open the first restaurant in the first quarter of 2016. A restaurant industry veteran, Homes already owns the franchise rights to four Uncle Maddio’s restaurants in Tallahassee. He opened his first Tallahassee restaurant in 2013 at the Mahan Village on Mahan Dr. and will open the other two Tallahassee locations in the next 18 months. In addition to the Tallahassee restaurant, Uncle Maddio’s has the first of five locations open in Jacksonville, Florida and will soon open the first of three units in Panama City Beach. Both franchisees are multi-unit franchisees of other quick service and quick casual brands. In addition, the company has signed an agreement to build three units each in the Sarasota and Ocala areas. “Florida is a robust market for us and we will continue to grow our presence there in the next few years,” said Uncle Maddio’s CEO Matt Andrew. Since launching its aggressive growth plan in 2008, the company has signed franchise agreements with 55 different entities in 18 states. Uncle Maddio's is on track to have 300 restaurants open in five years with 1000 units in development and is opening units every ten days. Uncle Maddio's offers premium ingredients and guests can choose from one of three crusts, including a gluten-free option, and 48 toppings including six sauces, 27 vegetables and 15 meats. More than 30 menu items are made fresh daily in-house. The signature salads and toasted Panini sandwiches round out the Italian-style menu. The restaurant also offers a selection of craft beers and wine. Operating 31 locations in 14 states, Uncle Maddio's opened ten restaurants in 2014 and earned a 300 percent growth rate over the last three years. With more than 240 units in development, Uncle Maddio’s is projected to double in size in 2015.
