Giraffas Brazilian Grill is a 34-year old chain of over 400 restaurants in Brazil featuring a quick casual menu that includes premium-quality, cooked-to-order, uniquely Brazilian Picanha and Mamnha meat cut, chicken, shrimp and salmon specials as well as its signature quinoa salad and Farofa. This all comes along with its selection of beer, including Itapava Brazilian beer. In 2011, the chain entered the U.S. market and with its most recent opening on W. Fagler St. in Miami in mid-June, the chain has ten locations in Central and South Florida. The latest opening is a 2500 square foot unit with seating for about 85 guests. Earlier in the year, Joao Barbosa, CFO of Giraffas International, told the Miami Herald that the company was planning aggressive expansion in the United States. CEO, President Rene Prats explained that moving forward, the chain is expanding across the country with various formats. Giraffas is seeking high traffic and highly visible sites in the 1500 to 1700 square foot range as well as in food courts. In addition, plans call for licensing areas.
