The community will also feature 170,000 square feet of retail and a regional water park. Dunkin’ Donuts has signed a multi-unit store development agreement with existing franchise group, Clearwater, Florida-based Panama City Donut Network LLC to develop two Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in Baton Rouge and its surrounding areas. The first restaurant is planned to open in Fall 2016 with the other new location planned for the following year. Led by Vik Patel, the team will manage and oversee the operations for the restaurants. Patel, a franchisee with Dunkin’ Donuts for nine years, currently operates 27 restaurants in Florida and two in Alabama. With this agreement, the group also purchased three existing restaurants in Baton Rouge. “We have a passion and loyalty for the brand and look forward to opening our restaurants in the years to come,” said Patel. Franchise opportunities still remain available throughout Louisiana in Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Monroe and New Orleans. Sweet Pete's Candy, a specialty sweet and snack shop founded by Pete and Allison Behringer, along with entrepreneur Marcus Lemonis, has acquired the Jolly Good Fellows Sweet Boutique in Lake Forest, Illinois. The Jolly Good Fellows retail store located at 270 Market Square, will be converted into a full-service Sweet Pete's Candy Shop over the next month, and will offer items such as gourmet chocolate, frozen yogurt, ice cream, baked goods, cotton candy, snacks, and other nostalgic confections. The unit will also include its signature candy making classes and a 2000 square foot space available for birthday parties and other private catered events. An institution in the D.C. area for over 90 years, the O’Donnell’s family-owned restaurant closed in 2013. Bill Edelblut, grandson of founder Tom O’Donnell, now reports that the family-owned restaurant is coming back but with a new twist. The general partners of The Iron Cactus Mexican Grill & Margarita Bar, Gary Manley and Mike Pottorff, and Michael Stone, Principal and Founder at The Stone Group, a commercial real estate investment company, have signed an agreement to acquire Z'Tejas Southwestern Grill. The agreement assures that Z'Tejas locations will remain open. Currently there are nine restaurants in Texas, Arizona and California. "We'd like to assure guests and employees that Z'Tejas will continue to remain a staple of the local community," said Manley.
