Opened in November 2014, Amaize is the flagship of a planned restaurant chain in Florida. The 2680 square foot quick casual unit has seating for about 75 and includes a bar area that serves South American beers, wines and sangrias. The menu features arepas, cachapas, soups, salads, and other menu items. The dishes are traditional Venezuelan and Columbian fare. Arepas are grilled cornmeal pockets and cachapas are pancakes made from fresh corn dough. According to recent reports in industry publication, Energy Manager Today, the restaurant company is working with Miami-based distributor and engineering, procurement and construction firm, Conexsol, to develop energy-saving designs for use throughout its new locations. Conexsol recommended that Amaize use LEDs from ReneSola and a subsequent retrofit included 111 LEDs, which resulted in an 80 percent reduction in light-related energy consumption. Installation process was only two days and the expected payback time is eight months.
