Franchisee Grows GA, Corporate Grows So. FL…..

Late last year, franchisees Iryna and Ihar Dziatko introduced the Sarpino’s Pizzeria concept to the Georgia market with the first location on North Side Dr. NW in Atlanta serving the greater midtown market. In September, the couple signed a three year agreement that will see them open eleven additional units in the midtown and downtown area of Atlanta. Then earlier in October, Lincolnshire, Illinois-based Sarpino’s USA reported that it has decided to develop new corporate locations in the South Florida area. Formerly a franchise only system, great sales among franchisees convinced Dmitry Shapiro and David Chatkin, franchisors of Sarpino’s USA, to begin to open corporate stores in the Fort Lauderdale market.  “Corporate had been planning to build its first location”, explained the company’s Performance Improvement Consultant Vasili Bykau, “originally looking in Philadelphia, but decided they wanted to develop South Florida. They had been looking for about a year, working with real estate developers, trying to find the perfect location because they did not want to compete with any local franchise owners and take business away from them. Slava Kopilevich, the previous owner of this location, approached corporate about selling his Fort Lauderdale location and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to turn it into their first corporate location.”  The location will serve as a test for the company’s multi unit management program.  The unit is at 100 East Broward Blvd. and the chain to have another open in the area by January of 2016. Sarpino’s Pizzeria currently has 49 operating locations in eight states across the United States along with about 65 fully executed franchise agreements. The chain expects to have 50 locations open by the end of 2015 and 350 locations within five years. The target markets with current store opportunities include Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Virginia and Washington D.C. The Sarpino’s menu offers over 80 different gourmet pizzas, calzones and other items. The delivery pizza chain treats the delivery part of the business as its main business.
