Expansion has heated up for Fuzzy’s Taco Shop with the jump in its Franchise 500 ranking that was released in January. In May, franchise group DAH Hospitality LLC will introduce the quick casual Fuzzy’s Taco Shop concept to Florida with a unit at University Pkwy and 31st Ct. East in Sarasota in southwest Florida. It will be the first of several restaurants in Florida that the franchise group is planning. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is a privately owned company that operates over 75 corporate-owned and franchise locations across nine states serving the fresh, handmade Baja-style Mexican food. The concept is unique in that while the brand standards and food offerings are consistent throughout the network, each location will strive to take on the character of the franchisee and local community, establishing a unique personality for each restaurant. In addition to its signature taco with feta cheese and garlic sauce, the chain also features uniquely flavored dishes that include its fish tacos, nachos, quesadillas, grilled sandwiches, salads and breakfast dishes as well as margaritas. The restaurants are generally in a 2500 to 3500 square foot range with an outside patio area. Freestanding units, end caps in open centers and downtown ‘character’ buildings are targeted. Presently there are two more Fuzzy’s Taco Shops in the East Coast region in Athens and Statesboro, both in Georgia. A location in The Shoppes at Webb Gin in Snellville, east of Atlanta in Georgia, is opening shortly.
