During 2014, Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina signed four multi-unit franchise development deals that will result in restaurant openings in Lewisville in Texas, Savannah and Alpharetta in Georgia and Asheville in North Carolina in 2015. An additional 22 locations will open in and around these same markets associated with these development agreements. In addition, based on the success of its new prototype, three new franchise agreements with existing franchisees were signed in 2014, resulting in openings at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, and in Longview, Texas. The third will open in High Point in North Carolina in June. “Salsarita’s is now in the perfect position to support both company and franchisee expansion properly for years to come. Franchisee interest throughout 2014 and so far this year is proof enough of that,” said CEO Phil Friedman. The Mexican menu restaurants operate at universities, airports, corporate headquarters and stand-alone locations in about 19 states. Currently there are about 70 locations of which eight are corporately owned. The 15-year old chain features house-made salsas, custom burritos, tacos, nachos and salads made fresh to order with an extensive selection of proteins, toppings and fillings. The chain also finalized a franchise agreement with food court specialist Villa Enterprises of Morristown, New Jersey, resulting in them taking over operations of Salsarita’s at Concord Mills Mall-Concord in Concord, North Carolina by early June.
