Quick service Mexican menu chain Del Taco reports that the brand is making significant strides in the South, with a focus on expansion in Georgia, Florida and the Carolinas. “Del Taco has experienced solid franchise growth through the years, and with nearly 550 restaurants in 16 states, we are showing no signs of slowing,” said Laura Tanaka, Director, Franchise Development. “With the South proving to be an excellent franchise investment, now is the time to get involved.” In August 2014, Franchisee Clay Gullatt of Columbus, Georgia open his first store in Columbus. The move resulted in the largest opening week in Del Taco’s 50-year history and with continued sales and high demand, he has purchased rights for three stores and anticipates his next Del Taco will be located in Auburn, Alabama. At this time in the East Coast region, there are only two Del Taco locations in Florida and six in Gerogia. Early in 2015, the chain reported that it had signed two development agreements that will see the chain enter the Northeast region.
