Signs 14, Looks for More……

 

Over the past four months, fast casual seafood restaurant Captain D’s has signed franchise agreements to open at least 14 new restaurants that will expand its presence in Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky and South Carolina. During 2014, the chain also signed agreements to open over 35 new restaurants.  Captain D’s also opened its first new corporate location in a decade. Among the new franchisee partners are Edward Stokes and Chris Benner who have signed a development agreement for four new locations in Johnson City, Kingsport and Bristol in Tennessee and in Abingdon, Virginia and have also purchased four existing Captain D’s restaurants in Tennessee and Virginia. The partners expect their first new restaurant to open within the next twelve months. Partners Steve Cochran and Glenn Woodrum will add three Captain D’s restaurants in the Columbia, South Carolina area to their seven existing locations in the area. Their first new restaurant is projected to open this Fall.  In addition, a new franchisee team of Affak Pathan and Shamana Patel have signed to open Captain D’s in Kennesaw, Georgia and will develop additional locations in the suburbs of Atlanta over the next several years.  Captain D’s counts over 500 restaurants in 26 states and reports that new restaurants are averaging $1.6 million in sales. The chain has recently introduced a new design featuring a coastal atmosphere and upgraded the dining experience with plate ware and silverware. A revamped menu was also launched, featuring healthy, fire-grilled options. The company also notes that a Kentucky-based team of Dean Turner, Jim Azbill and Chuck Conley  have signed on to open three restaurants in Kentucky over the coming three years and existing franchisee Les Stallworth will open his second Alabama location late in 2015. Presently, the chain is sourcing entrepreneurs in Louisiana to open ten to 15 restaurants in the greater Baton Rouge area. The company has seven Captain D’s restaurants located throughout the state.
