Burger Expansion on the Front Burner

Tampa, Florida-based Front Burner Brands announced that first-time franchisees John and Brandi Porter are planning to open a Burger 21 restaurant in Pompano Beach in Florida. It will be the first unit in the Pompano Beach area for the three year old chain of quick casual burger restaurants. Another location, in Davie also in Broward County in South Florida, is already scheduled for an early 2014 opening. President and Chief Concept Officer Mark Johnson notes that the company will remain focused on growth and development in both new and existing markets. The company is actively seeking qualified franchisees. Both single-unit and multi-unit operators with restaurant experience are targeted for the upscale concept. Presently, the Burger 21 chain includes nine locations open in Tampa Bay and Orlando in Florida, in Voorhees, New Jersey, in Atlanta, Georgia and in Charlotte, North Carolina along with about18 others in development in six states. The units are generally in a 2400 to 3000 square foot range. The company also reported that Dan Lenhauser, who recently became Burger 21′s first Arizona franchisee, has signed an additional agreement to develop a second restaurant in the Phoenix market. Lenhauser’s first Western restaurant, in Chandler, is expected to open in mid-2014 followed by the Tempe restaurant in 2015.
