Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers will open a 5500 square foot restaurant in the retail component of the new Manor at Flagler Village residential complex on N. Federal Hwy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in early 2015, according to reports in the South Florida Business Journal. The 40 year old chain of pizzerias is also scheduled to open at the Shops at Sunset Place in Miami, also in South Florida. Presently the Atlanta-based chain operates 17 restaurants in Florida and over 160 locations in about 19 states. The franchise chain opened 17 new units last year and expects to add about 20 more this year. Other Mellow Mushroom East Coast locations that are under development include in Georgia, a freestanding unit on Cedarcrest Rd. NW in Acworth, a unit at 1526 Baytree Rd in Valdosta and on Kings Way St. in St. Simons Island. The chain is also opening in the former Backstreets Pizza restaurant at S. Main St. and Washington St. SE in Blacksburg, Virginia.
