In late August, Maryland’s first Pie Five Pizza Co. restaurant opens in the new Market Square at Frederick shopping center on Shorebird St., just east of Catoctin Mountain Hwy and north of Liberty Rd., in Frederick.  The end cap unit is about 1900 square feet with interior seating for about 73 and a patio area that seats another 40 guests. In late 2013, Rockville, Maryland-based restaurant management company, ALC Hospitality LLC acquired the rights to operated 38 quick casual Pie Five franchises in Southern Maryland, Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia. Several of the units will be located in Frederick County as well as in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.  Plans call for a total of four restaurants in Maryland and D.C. by the end of 2014. Capitalizing on growing demand for fresh dining options and artisan pizzas in stylish environments served quickly, Pie Five guests can choose from more than a million combinations of handcrafted pizzas and a variety of specialty pie choices prepared in less than five minutes on one of four crusts, all for one low price.  Pie Five is a subsidiary of Pizza Inn Holdings Inc. based in the Dallas suburb of The Colony, Texas. Pizza Inn Holdings is an owner, franchisor and supplier of more than 275 restaurants operating domestically and internationally.
