Char-Hut Kicks Off National Expansion

Design Store FrontIn late February, Char-Hut Franchising LLC, through a licensing agreement with Char-Hut of America Inc., completed the sale of the first Char-Hut restaurant franchise to Blankstein Investment Partners Inc. The unit is scheduled to open in July at the Coral Landings Center on West Sample Rd., just west of 441/State Rd 7 in Coral Springs, north of Fort Lauderdale.  The 2800 square foot end cap unit will have interior seating for about 70 and patio seating for about 16 guests. The Char-Hut menu features hamburgers and hotdogs that are prepared using the chain’s open kitchen char-grilling methods. The company is also developing a corporate training location at Northridge Center at Commercial Blvd. and North Dixie Hwy in Florida’s Oakland Park. The 2200 square foot in-line unit with interior seating for about 67 and another 24 on an exterior patio. Introduced in 1976, the family-owned quick service chain currently operates three Char-Hut locations South Florida’s Broward County in Pembroke Pines, Davie and Tamarac. It will have five units operating by the end of the year.  Growth plans call for 15 operating by the end of 2016 and 40 restaurants operating by the end of 2019.

DesignPresentation 8Steven Kamelhair, Char-Hut Franchising Director, Franchise Development, explains that the chain is seeking high traffic and highly visible locations in the 2200 to 3000 square foot range. Various formats are considered including in-line and end cap units in plazas, pad units and out parcels as well as food court locations.  The units can operate with or without drive-thrus.
