In late June, Hearthstone Associates LLC, the largest franchisee of quick casual restaurant chain, Cosi Inc., opened its newest restaurant in the Seaport District in Boston, Massachusetts. It is the 13th unit in the Boston area for the franchisee. Located at 2 Seaport Lane in the Seaport District, the unit is near the Boston Children's Museum, the Institute of Contemporary Art and several other restaurants. Cosi is a national restaurant chain that has developed featured foods built around a secret, generations-old recipe for crackly-crust flatbread. The artisan bread is freshly baked in front of customers throughout the day in open-flame stone-hearth ovens prominently located in each of the restaurants. The restaurants are geared towards the sophisticated, upscale, urban and suburban clientele. There are currently 66 company-owned and 49 franchise restaurants operating in sixteen states, the District of Columbia, the United Arab Emirates, and Costa Rica. The menu features sandwiches, freshly-tossed salads, bowls, breakfast wraps, melts, soups, flatbread pizzas, S'mores, snacks and other desserts, and a wide range of coffee and coffee-based drinks and other specialty beverages. R.J. Dourney, the founder and CEO of Hearthstone Associates, was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Cosi Inc in March 2014. In April, he announced that the Cosi Inc headquarters would be relocating to Boston but when it would happen was not announced.
