In January 2013, Nashville, Tennessee-based quick service better-burger brand Back Yard Burgers exited Chapter 11 and just two years later, it completed 2014 with 21 consecutive months of same-store sales increases. Back Yard Burgers company-owned restaurants experienced a 10.2-percent increase in same-store sales compared to 2013 and franchisees a four percent increase. “Prospective franchisees have taken notice,” said CEO Dave McDougall, “and Back Yard Burgers has a solid foundation to expand upon in 2015.”  In addition to unveiling a re-vamped restaurant design this year, the chain expects to see new store growth with existing franchise partners opening additional restaurants and deals being worked on for new prospective franchise partners.  The company is sourcing franchisees for development opportunities in Chattanooga and Knoxville in Tennessee, Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point and Raleigh-Durham in North Carolina and in Orlando, Florida.  Along with its made-to-order gourmet Angus burgers, the Back Yard Burgers menu includes grilled chicken sandwiches, fresh salads, hand-dipped milkshakes, and freshly baked desserts. Today the franchise brand operates 63 locations in 14 states.
