Based in Addison, Texas, Fiesta Restaurant Group Inc. is the owner, operator and franchisor of the Pollo Tropical and Taco Cabana fast-casual restaurant brands. At the end of its fiscal year 2013, the company owned and operated 102 Pollo Tropical restaurants and 165 Taco Cabana restaurants and franchised 39 Pollo Tropical restaurants in the U.S., Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, India, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic, and seven Taco Cabana restaurants in the U.S. For its year that ended in late December, Fiesta Restaurant Group recorded an 8.2 percent increase in revenues, to $551.3-million. At the Taco Cabana restaurants, a comparable restaurant sale increased by 0.5 percent and comparable guest traffic was down 1.1 percent, negatively affected by unfavorable weather and a slowed remodeling schedule. During the year, the company opened twelve Pollo Tropical units and six Taco Cabana locations. The Pollo Tropical and Taco Cabana restaurants are fast-casual, ethnic concepts that offer distinct and unique flavors with broad appeal. Both brands feature made-from-scratch cooking, fresh salsa bars and drive-thru service and catering.
