Earlier in January, Addison, Texas-based casual urban bar and restaurant Bar Louie opened its second location in Rochester in Western New York. Bar Louie Henrietta is in the former Bugaboo Creek Steak House site on Jefferson Rd., just off the Genesee Expressway. The freestanding unit is about 9000 square feet. Founded in downtown Chicago in 1991, Bar Louie is a bar and eatery with a casual, social atmosphere. Known for its handcrafted signature martinis, the chain also features a large selection of appetizers, flatbreads, salads, burgers and sandwiches. With 30 beers on tap and 20 wines by the glass, cocktail drinkers can choose from the 34 signature martinis, mojitos, margaritas and sangrias made from premium liquors, fresh fruit and hand squeezed juices. This latest unit is the chain’s fourth in New York State. With over 110 locations in about 26 states, Bar Louie continues to expand at a rate of about 20 corporate-owned units per year and a goal of 30 new franchises. The units range in size from a cozy 4000 square feet up to 11,000 square feet, depending on the market and opportunity. No two locations are alike. In March, the chain will enter the Connecticut market with a location at the Blue Black Square in West Hartford.
