Livingston, New Jersey-based franchisee The Briad Group has acquired five restaurants in New Jersey from The Wendy’s Company.  The acquisition brings Briad’s total number of Wendy’s restaurants to 65. Briad has acquired a total of 23 Wendy’s restaurants in the last two years from the company and other franchise organizations. Last year, The group acquired eight Wendy’s locations in Manhattan and New Jersey. The company also built its first new unit in nine years, opening its Sicklerville, New Jersey location in September 2014. A second new-build in Mount Laurel opened late last year — the first Briad location to incorporate Wendy’s new Image Activation design concept. The Briad Group is a multi-concept restaurant and hospitality company with a restaurant portfolio that includes 65 Wendy’s restaurants, 64 TGI Fridays restaurants, 23 CUPS Frozen Yogurt shops with 45 more committed via area development agreements and nine Zinburger restaurants with eight in development.  The company’s holdings also include The Promenade Shops at Clifton, a 150,000 square feet lifestyle shopping center and two hotels, two more under construction and 15 in development.
