Pie Five Pizza Co. has just inked a multi-unit agreement with Deleware-based franchisee Mashoor Awad that will see the chain open up to 24 new locations in several northeastern states. Awad will be developing the Pie Five Pizza brand in Delaware, Eastern Pennsylvania/Philadelphia, Northern Maryland and Southern New Jersey. The first location, slated to open this Fall, will be in Dover, Delaware and additional locations in Montgomery County in Pennsylvania and Cherry Hill in New Jersey are also in the planning stages.  “People love pizza everywhere but schedules are changing and people are busy,” said Mashoor who currently owns six IHOP Restaurants, and was previously a Subway franchisee. Pie Five’s quick casual model allows patrons to customize a personal handcrafted pizza, choosing from a selection of fresh, artisan ingredients. The pizzas are cooked in a custom-designed, state-of-the-art pizza oven in 145 seconds. Pie Five offers millions of ingredient combinations along with four crust types from dough made in house, seven sauces, five cheeses and 28 fresh meat and vegetable toppings. Pie Five currently has about 47 locations in 13 states, with more than 400 announced company-owned and franchise units in development. The restaurants operate in areas that have a residential population of over 30,000 within three miles and a daytime population in excess of 25,000. The unit size is in the 2000 to 2200 square foot range with a minimum of 30 feet of frontage.
