Opening Flagship in DC……

Introduced by celebrity chef David Adjey in mid-2012, The Chickery is a quick casual ‘better-chicken concept’ that features premium ingredients.  The menu features locally-sourced rotisserie chickens, signature Ultimate Buttermilk Chicken Fingers, homemade sauces made from scratch and unique sides like jalapeno cheddar cornbread. The first location is on Spadina Ave., south of Richmond St., in downtown Toronto. Last year, Adjey partnered with franchise development company Fransmart to grow the concept worldwide. A second Toronto location is scheduled to open in the Mount Sinai Hospital later this year and The Chickery plans to develop Toronto corporately as it sources additional locations in greater Toronto.  The company is also sourcing non-traditional sites in the city’s downtown underground Pathway, in airports, universities, office towers, etc. Plans call for at least two corporate units every year in Toronto in addition to franchised locations for the next five years. The Chickery is also under construction on a company-owned U.S. flagship location at 1300 Connecticut Ave. in Washington DC’s Dupont Circle that will open later this year.  In addition, the company had previously reported that it has signed a large franchise deal in the Middle East to open 20-unit locations in the UAE and Qatar.  The Chickery plans to open 80 to 100 locations throughout the Middle East over the next ten years. Joel Friedman at JSF Franchise Group handles the site selection in the Toronto area and along with other responsibilities, Fransmart is handling the franchise development.
